Configuration

Each module is configured under Content, Site Modules. Tracks come from Media Manager via media fields and native subforms. Skin colors live in module parameters. Heavier chrome overrides belong in your template custom.css so upgrades do not overwrite your branding.

Shared concepts every module uses

Media fields and subforms

Open the module, add rows in the subform or pick files with media fields, and point each row at a file in Media Manager. Save after every edit. Joomla does not guess paths you typed once and forgot to save. Empty subform rows produce empty frontend output, which looks like a broken install when it is really an unsaved list.

Access levels and menu assignment

Set Access to match who should hear audio. Public modules play for guests when files are reachable. Registered modules hide useful output from guests entirely. Set Menu Assignment so the module appears only on menu items where you expect music or speech, unless you deliberately want site-wide sticky behavior from the main player.

Skin colors and template CSS

Module parameters expose custom skin colors for brand chrome without editing core module files. If you need layout changes beyond colors, use template overrides or custom.css rather than hacking module PHP.

Main player (mod_rca_jukebox)

This module is your primary library player or sticky library bar. Select library or individual tracks as the module documentation describes. Enable sticky library player behavior if you want the bar to stay available while visitors browse other pages. Assign a prominent template position for landing-page listening. After you save, clear cache and test Play on desktop and mobile with a deliberate click.

Playlist (mod_rca_jukebox_playlist)

Publish this module to a sidebar or content position where a vertical or compact list makes sense. Build an ordered track list with the native subform; each row is one Media Manager file. Play order on the frontend follows subform order, not folder sort order in Media Manager. Reopen the module after save and confirm order before you announce the series to your audience.

Grid (mod_rca_jukebox_grid)

Publish on a library or archive page where many titles need their own play control. Add tracks through the subform or media fields until density looks right on desktop, then narrow the browser or test a phone. Grids that look brilliant on a wide monitor can feel crowded on small screens; adjust row count before you call the page done.

Single item (mod_rca_jukebox_item)

Publish where you need exactly one play control, such as beside an article, lesson, or product blurb. Pick one media file. Add an optional shop or download link beside play if your layout needs a call to action next to the button. Keep access levels honest between Public and Registered so guests are not staring at an empty box.

After you save any module

Clear Joomla cache and any front-end cache you control. Retest with a real user click on Play, especially on iOS or Safari, before you link the page in a newsletter.
