Requirements

Compat assumes EasySocial is already on the site. It does not ship EasySocial licenses or StackIdeas support.

Joomla and PHP

Supported stack is Joomla 4.4 or newer, including Joomla 5 and Joomla 6, with PHP 8.1 or newer. You need Super User access to install extensions and manage system plugins.

EasySocial

Install EasySocial 4.0.x from StackIdeas first. Development and testing focused on 4.0.14 and 4.0.15 file patterns. Newer 4.0.x builds may work but can trigger installer warnings if patch targets moved.

Backups

Take a full site and database backup before first install because patches modify EasySocial files on disk when targets match.

Template overrides

After Compat 1.2.3 or newer, remove stale template overrides that force the old smiley picker unless you deliberately maintain a custom UI. Overrides fight the plugin picker.

Not required

You do not need the superseded standalone Photo Paste plugin when running Compat 1.2.4 or newer with Enable story photo paste configured as you prefer.
