Overview
RCA OSCampus Compat is a free Bugfix for OSCampus on Joomla 4, 5, and 6. It patches one OSCampus PHP file on disk so PHP 8 trait property rules do not fatal when you create or edit lessons. OSCampus still comes from its vendor. This plugin is not OSCampus and ReCreatingAnew is not affiliated with Open Source Training or the OSCampus project.
Distribution note
This product is distributed from ReCreatingAnew outside the Joomla Extensions Directory because it changes another vendor’s code. Read the CODE HACK warning on the product page before you install.
CODE HACK. On install or reinstall the plugin rewrites administrator/components/com_oscampus/library/oscampus/AbstractBase.php to resolve a known PHP 8 trait property mismatch on the app property. On first successful patch it saves AbstractBase.php.rca-orig beside the live file. Uninstall restores from that backup when it still exists. After every OSCampus update you must reinstall this plugin because vendor updates overwrite the patched file.
What it does not fix
This is a shim for one known AbstractBase typing problem on the OSCampus 3.0.x line. Other OSCampus features that depend on removed Joomla 3 internals may still fail on modern Joomla. It is not a full OSCampus Joomla 6 port.
Who should use it
Use it if you run OSCampus on Joomla 4, 5, or 6 with PHP 8.1 or newer and you hit a fatal when creating or editing lessons because of mismatched trait property declarations on the app property.
When to skip it
Skip it if OSCampus is not installed. Skip it if you will not accept a third-party file change on disk. Skip it if you need a JED-listed package for this fix.
