What is RCA SPPB Compat?
It is a free Bugfix system plugin for SP Page Builder on Joomla 4, 5, and 6. Version 2.0.1 is one host with five switches: Media patches, Article checkout, Options field path, License update sync, and Diagnostics. In admin it is named System - RCA SPPB Compat. The install element is rca_sppb_compat. This manual set is the live documentation for RCA SP Page Builder Bugfixes. The old separate Article Checkout and Config packages are superseded.
Do I still need the old Checkout or Config plugins?
No. Version 2.0.0 includes those fixes. The installer turns the old plugins off. Uninstall the old packages after you confirm this host works. Do not keep installing new versions of the separate plugins.
I only used Article Checkout before. Which switches do I need?
Leave Article checkout On. Turn Media patches Off if you do not want SP Page Builder files changed on disk. You do not need a separate Checkout package.
I only used Config before. Which switches do I need?
Leave Options field path On and License update sync On. Turn Media patches Off if you only want Options fixes. Leave Diagnostics Off unless you are reading the PHP error log while debugging Options.
Can I use this without changing SP Page Builder files?
Yes. Turn Media patches Off. Keep Article checkout and the Options switches On if you need those fixes.
What do Media patches change?
They are a CODE HACK. They update specific SP Page Builder admin files so Media Manager can use both the SPPB files folder and the normal Joomla images folder on Joomla 6, and they repair Joomla 6 filesystem class names. On first change each file gets a sibling backup ending in .rca-orig.
Will Media patches survive an SP Page Builder update?
The vendor update overwrites patched files. When Media patches is On, this plugin tries to restore them. If that fails, reinstall this plugin.
Does uninstall undo Media patches?
Yes when the sibling .rca-orig backups still exist. Uninstall copies each backup back over the live file. If a backup is missing, reinstall stock SP Page Builder or use a site backup.
Why does the install message tell me to open settings?
Because each site wants a different mix of fixes. Media patches rewrite vendor files. Some sites only want the Save toolbar or Options fixes. The message links to plugin settings so you set switches before you continue.
