How to Guides

These are the workflows administrators ask for after the merge. Pick the path that matches what you used to run as separate plugins.

Migrate from Article Checkout only

Install RCA SPPB Compat after SP Page Builder is present. Open Feature switches and leave Article checkout On. Turn Media patches Off if you only want the Save toolbar fix and you refuse SP Page Builder disk changes. Otherwise leave Media patches On if you also want Media Manager fixes. Edit an article in SP Page Builder, return to the article screen, and confirm Save and Save and Close are present. Disable and uninstall the old Checkout package when you are satisfied.

Migrate from Config only

Install Compat after SP Page Builder is present. Leave Options field path On and License update sync On. Turn Media patches Off if you only want Options fixes without disk changes. Leave Diagnostics Off unless you are actively debugging Options in the PHP log. Open SP Page Builder Options and save with empty license fields if that matches how you run the site. Confirm you do not get a useless failure from an empty license write. Disable and uninstall the old Config package when you are satisfied.

Migrate from both old plugins

Install Compat once. Confirm the installer disabled rca_sppb_checkout and rca_sppb_config. Leave Article checkout, Options field path, and License update sync On. Decide Media patches On or Off for this site. Run the Save toolbar test and the Options save test. Uninstall both old packages after checks pass. Do not leave both legacy plugins enabled beside Compat.

Full host on a Joomla 6 SPPB site

Leave Media patches, Article checkout, Options field path, and License update sync On. Leave Diagnostics Off. Verify Media Manager sees both roots, article Save returns after the SPPB editor, and Options save cleanly.

Toolbar and Options only, no disk changes

Turn Media patches Off. Leave Article checkout, Options field path, and License update sync On. Leave Diagnostics Off. Do not expect multi-root Media Manager from this plugin while Media patches is Off. Stock SP Page Builder Media Manager behavior is what you get.

Day-to-day discipline

Change switches only when the site need changes. After any switch change, Save, clear cache when needed, and retest. After an SP Page Builder update, leave Media patches On so the plugin can try to put file fixes back when the vendor update overwrites them. If restoration fails, reinstall Compat with Media patches On and verify again.
