Install and Updates

This page covers getting plg_system_rca_j2c_downfilessync onto your site, keeping it current through the Pro update feed, and removing it without surprises.

Where do I get the install package?

RCA J2C Downloadable Files Sync is Pro. Download plg_system_rca_j2c_downfilessync from https://recreatinganew.com after purchase. The Joomla install element is rca_j2c_downfilessync. In Extensions, Manage, Extensions, the plugin appears as System - RCA J2C Downloadable Files Sync.

How do I install for the first time?

Open System, Install Extensions, and upload the ZIP. Joomla installs the plugin under plugins/system/rca_j2c_downfilessync. Enable the plugin if your workflow leaves new system plugins disabled. Before you map products, set J2Commerce Attachment folder path to your downloads root so sync resolves free and pro paths correctly.

How do upgrades work?

Install a newer Pro ZIP through System, Install Extensions, with method upgrade, or use Joomla Update when the private Pro feed offers a version. Current retail version at time of writing is 1.0.2. After upgrade, re-open the Settings tab and skim the Product folder map in case new options or help text appeared. Run Sync Now once on a mapped product to confirm behavior before you announce a release to customers.

What does the update server expect?

The plugin registers the Pro private update server at https://recreatinganew.com/extensions/private/feeds/plg_system_rca_j2c_downfilessync.xml. Your site must reach that URL with valid Pro credentials configured in Joomla’s update system the same way you use other RCA Pro extensions.

What happens if I uninstall?

Uninstalling removes the plugin files and plugin parameters from Joomla. It does not delete J2Commerce product file rows. Whatever paths Sync wrote last remain in the database until you edit products manually or install a replacement workflow. Uninstall does not remove ZIP files from your attachment folders.

Should I back up before upgrade?

Back up the site database and the attachment folder tree if you rely on downloadable sales revenue, because product file rows are the contract between disk and checkout. The plugin upgrade itself is a standard Joomla plugin upgrade, but commerce sites deserve boring backups anyway.
