Install and Updates

Installation is standard Joomla extension install. The important part is what you do immediately afterward, because the defaults are not a substitute for reading the switches.

Install the plugin

Confirm SP Page Builder is present by opening it in admin and, if you can, loading a basic editor page. Open System → Install → Extensions and upload the Compat ZIP. Enable System - RCA SPPB Compat when prompted or from System → Plugins.

Read the install message

The success message tells you to open plugin settings and configure every feature switch. Use the settings link in that message when Joomla provides it. If the link is missing, go to System → Plugins and open System - RCA SPPB Compat manually.

Legacy plugin handling

When you install or update Compat 2.0.0 or newer, the installer turns off rca_sppb_checkout and rca_sppb_config if they are present. That does not remove their packages from Extensions → Manage. Uninstall those old packages after you confirm Compat behaves correctly.

Upgrade Compat

Install the newer ZIP over the existing plugin the same way you installed it the first time. Read the post-install message again. Re-open Feature switches and confirm every toggle still matches your intent. Clear cache and rerun your smoke tests.

What changed in recent host versions

Version 2.0.1 improved uninstall restore from .rca-orig backups and strengthened install messaging for Media patches paths. Version 2.0.0 was the merge release that absorbed Article Checkout and Config into one host with five switches.

Uninstall

Before you uninstall, know what Media patches did on this site. Uninstalling Compat restores SP Page Builder files from sibling .rca-orig backups when those backups still exist under administrator/components/com_sppagebuilder/. If a backup is missing, uninstall cannot restore that file. Use your site backup or reinstall stock SP Page Builder for clean vendor files in that case.
