RCA Auto Menu — user guide
Install and enable
Install plg_system_rca_automenu from your RCA download or the site updater. Open System → Plugins, find System - RCA Auto Menu, and enable it.
Basic configuration
Open the plugin options.
Match menu by category title (default on): the plugin looks for a site menu item whose title matches the article’s category (or an ancestor category). Use Search under menu item to limit the search to a branch (for example your Documentation menu).
Documentation root category: choose the top com_content category that holds product documentation trees (for example Documents). When Auto-create product menu parent is on, the first save for a new product doc category can create a menu root for that product.
Product menu item type controls what that auto-created root is: intro article (when an intro article exists), separator, heading, or category list.
Category mappings is the fallback table: map a specific article category to a parent menu item when title matching does not find a parent.
Admin notices controls whether the plugin shows messages when it creates or updates menu items.
Expected behavior
- New article: if a parent is resolved, a menu item is created; the menu item title matches the article title.
- Existing article: if a menu item is already linked, title and other fields sync on save.
- Content Uploader: imports that fire the same save events behave like admin saves.
Troubleshooting
If no menu item appears, confirm the plugin is enabled, the article category matches your title rule or mapping row, and the chosen parent menu item exists and is published. Enable Admin notices temporarily to see plugin feedback on save.
