Requirements

RCA File Desk targets Joomla 4, 5, and 6 with PHP 8.1 or newer as declared in the manifest. Use a supported Joomla release branch and a PHP version your host documents for that Joomla major.

Permissions and access

Users need administrator login plus permission to manage the component (core.manage on com_rca_filedesk). The elFinder connector additionally expects a valid Joomla session and CSRF token on each request. Anonymous or front-end users cannot reach the connector through the supported task URL.

Filesystem

The web server user must be able to read and write the configured storage folder and the site tmp/trash folder used for elFinder trash. open_basedir or hardened hosts that block writes outside explicit paths may break uploads until paths align with host policy.

Browser

Use a current Chromium, Firefox, or Safari build. elFinder relies on jQuery and jQuery UI loaded through Joomla’s Web Asset Manager; disable aggressive admin extensions that strip scripts if the toolbar renders blank.

Dependencies

No third-party Joomla extensions are required. elFinder and jQuery UI ship inside the package. Joomla core provides jQuery registration for administrator.
