All component options live under Components, RCA File Desk, Options (or Global Configuration, RCA File Desk). Save after changes and reload the File Desk screen so the connector reads fresh params.
Path is a folder relative to the Joomla site root, without a leading slash. Default is images. Enter a single dot to use the entire site root; only do that when you understand the blast radius. Parent segments (..) are rejected. The resolved folder must stay inside JPATH_ROOT.
When Restrict Uploads is Yes, elFinder uses the Legal MIME Types list as an allow list and denies everything else. When No, uploads allow all MIME types and the Show Hidden Files option becomes available. Turning restriction off is appropriate only on locked-down admin teams.
Comma-separated MIME strings, no spaces required but trim is applied. Default covers common images, Office types, PDF, plain text, and zip. Adjust for your workflow; overly tight lists cause confusing upload errors that look like server faults.
Visible only when Restrict Uploads is No. When Yes, dotfiles are not hidden by the access callback. When restriction is on, dotfiles stay hidden except volume roots as elFinder expects.
One mapping per line: numeric Joomla user group ID, whitespace, then a relative folder path under the site root. Example: 8 templates/custom. Super Users (group 1) ignore this map and use the default Path. Other groups receive the first matching line for one of their authorised groups. Malformed lines are skipped.
Use the Permissions tab like any component. Grant core.manage only to roles that may use File Desk. Do not hand manage permission to registered or author groups on production sites.
