Frontend

Members interact with Compat through smoother EasySocial pages, cleaner article stream behavior, better emoji pickers, and optional story paste. They do not see a separate Compat module or menu item.

Activity stream

When Compat owns com_content article streams, members see one activity row per published article that updates when editors save changes, instead of a new row on every minor edit. The row content or state should reflect updates under normal ownership.

Emoji and smileys

When EasySocial emoticons are enabled, Compat upgrades the picker with search and a portal-style popup in comments, conversations, and the story composer. Stale template overrides can hide that upgrade until you remove them.

Story photo paste

With Enable story photo paste set to Yes, a member in the story composer can copy an image and paste with Ctrl+V or Cmd+V. The image attaches through EasySocial’s photos uploader. Paste does nothing if the clipboard holds only a link, if paste is disabled in plugin options, or if the member is not in the story composer.

What visitors should not notice

Install-time patches fix PHP fatals and broken paths. Visitors simply get working pages instead of white screens or error pages. That is the point.

Cache and hard refresh

After enabling Compat or changing paste settings, clear site cache and ask testers to hard-refresh before they declare paste or emoji broken.
