RCA Timeline exists for sites that want a chronological story on the front end without building custom templates for every milestone. Each timeline node comes from com_content: you filter by category, tag, or featured state, order by date or other article fields, and pick a layout preset that controls spacing, colors, and orientation.
One site module (mod_rca_timeline), twelve layout styles including a horizontal mode, image handling with optional resize and placeholder, Font Awesome and Ionicons assets bundled under media/mod_rca_timeline, and a shippable manual under docs/manual in the ZIP.
Install element is mod_rca_timeline, not mod_mx_timeline. Legacy J3 helper paths and document-level script injection are gone. Assets register through Web Asset Manager in the module dispatcher. PHP 8.1 minimum and Joomla 4 through 6 target platforms are declared in the manifest.
Agencies and site owners who already publish dated articles or blog posts and want a timeline presentation on a landing page or about page. It is not a calendar, not an event booking tool, and not a substitute for a full page builder layout.
Skip it if you only need a simple article list module, if your content is not date-driven, or if horizontal style 9 is required without ascending created-date ordering (that style depends on chronological order).
