RCA AddMenuItem — User guide
Install mod_addmenuitem from your RCA download. In System → Manage → Administrator modules, open RCA AddMenuItem, set status to Published, and assign it to the administrator menu/module positions your template uses for editor toolbars (same placement you used for prior versions).
1. Open Content → Articles, edit an article.
2. Click Add to Menu on the toolbar.
3. In the popup, set Menu Item Title (defaults to the article title), confirm Alias if needed, choose Parent menu location, set Status, Access, Language, and any layout options, then save.
You stay on the article edit screen. The new menu item appears under the parent you selected.
| Joomla core (typical) | RCA AddMenuItem | |
|---|---|---|
| Where you work | Menus component, separate screens | Same article (or content) edit screen |
| Steps | Save content → Menus → New → pick type → link record → parent/options → save | Toolbar button → popup → save |
| Pre-save review | You configure mostly in Menus | Title, alias, parent, access, language, template style, layout params in one popup |
| Article editor | No dedicated one-click toolbar path on all versions | Supported via com_content article edit template |
Use AMI when you publish articles often and want menu creation without leaving the editor. Use core Menus when you prefer the standard Menus UI only.
