Overview

RCA AddMenuItem (RCA AMI)

Product summary

RCA AddMenuItem is an administrator module (mod_addmenuitem) that adds an Add to Menu control on supported content edit screens. You configure the menu item in a popup while you stay on the article (or category, contact, tag, feed, user) form. Current documented release line: 1.0.13 (free, public update feed).

RCA AMI vs Joomla core Add to Menu

Joomla’s built-in Add to Menu path (where your Joomla version provides it) is a multi-step, leave-the-editor workflow: save content, open Menus, create or pick a menu item type, bind the record, set parent/access/language/template, save, return to content.

RCA AMI keeps the workflow inside the edit form in three steps:

1. Click Add to Menu on the editor toolbar (module enabled, supported view).

2. Review or adjust the popup (title, alias, parent, status, access, language, template style, layout params).

3. Save — the menu item is created and cache is flushed; you remain on the same article screen.

Joomla 6 adds native Save to Menu options on some screens (for example category list/blog layouts). That core path still does not replace the full article workflow AMI covers: articles, contacts, tags, feeds, users, and the full pre-save configuration popup.

What this release fixes (1.0.12)

Menu item titles created from the article editor no longer lose spaces or special characters. The save handler now reads the title field with a string filter instead of Joomla’s default cmd filter. The alias field shows the content alias verbatim in the popup; URL-safe normalisation applies only when the menu item is saved.
