What is the current retail product?
The free retail system plugin plg_system_rca_themer, documented at version 1.1.6 for this manual. It puts a floating Styles panel on your live Joomla frontend for Super Users on Helix-oriented sites.
What about the hosted lab?
The lab remains free at https://recreatinganew.com/themer. It is separate from the plugin ZIP. You design against Helix and SP Page Builder fixture chrome, export CSS, and paste it yourself. Nothing from the lab installs on your site.
Was this invite beta or paid?
Earlier packaging talked about invite beta and paid Live edition while the plugin matured. The retail ZIP you install today is free. Beta unlocked in plugin options remains for a possible later paid key gate; leave it on Yes for normal free use.
Is the plugin free on the current feed?
Yes for the current free retail release and public update feed at https://recreatinganew.com. If RCA later turns on a paid gate, that change will be explicit in release notes; do not turn Beta unlocked off on your own.
Does it work with SP Page Builder or JPageBuilder?
In principle yes on live pages through same-origin CSS and DOM, not through a builder API. Inline styles, shadow DOM, cross-origin sheets, and write allowlists impose limits. The hosted lab is fixture oriented toward Helix plus SP Page Builder chrome.
Will Helix overwrite my CSS?
Yes if you edit Helix-compiled template.css or stock presets. Updates wipe those files. Put lasting overrides in custom.css or allowlisted child CSS. custom.css loads last; that is the durable path.
Is live write safe?
Safer than hand-editing compiled CSS, but not magic. Default is write off. When enabled, it requires Super User, CSRF protection, write secret, selected custom CSS file, and allowlisted paths. template.css is never written. Backups land under css/_themer_bak/. Still take a full site backup before enabling write on production. Export first, write second.
Why can I not see the Styles panel?
Usually the plugin is disabled, you are not a Super User on the frontend, cache is stale, or Require ?rca_themer=1 is on without the query in the URL.
