Stripe for J2Commerce installs as a J2Commerce-group payment plugin. Treat it like any payment gateway: configure before you enable on production, because shoppers will find it immediately.

RCA Stripe for J2Commerce is free at https://recreatinganew.com. Package name plg_j2commerce_payment_stripe_rca installs to plugins/j2commerce/payment_stripe_rca with element payment_stripe_rca.

How does first install behave?

Upload through System, Install Extensions. Open the payment plugin under J2Commerce payment plugins. Payment gateways typically ship disabled or unpublished until keys exist; enable only after test keys and webhook plan are in place. Assign the method to the storefront payment profile J2Commerce uses for checkout.

How do upgrades work?

Install newer ZIP with method upgrade or use Joomla Update from https://recreatinganew.com/extensions/public/feeds/plg_j2commerce_payment_stripe_rca.xml. Current major line is 2.0.0 for J2Commerce v6. After upgrade, re-check webhook URL guidance, keys, test mode state, and run one test checkout.

What changed in the 2.0.0 line?

Version 2.0.0 is a breaking migration from legacy J2Store-group Stripe to J2Commerce v6 PSR-4 payment plugins, new events, new checkout URLs, and new language keys. If you still run com_j2store, this package is the wrong product; migrate commerce first.

What happens on uninstall?

Uninstall removes plugin files and parameters. J2Commerce order history remains in the database. Stripe Dashboard keys and webhooks remain your responsibility to rotate or delete.
