Configuration lives in System, Plugins, System - RCA J2C Downloadable Files Sync. The Settings tab holds the map and sync behavior toggles. The Sync panel tab runs Sync Now. The Advanced tab holds optional cron.
One product per line uses pipe-separated fields. A leading hash or semicolon comments out that line so it will not sync until you remove the comment character. Blank lines are ignored. Each active line starts with the numeric J2Commerce product ID, then free/ or pro/ plus the package folder under the attachment root, then optional fields.
keep_prior=N limits how many older ZIPs register as additional product files with newest first; default is twenty-five if omitted. changelog=1 registers CHANGELOG.md from that folder when the file exists; changelog=0 skips it. label=Display Name sets the label shown in the Sync panel and shortcode output; when omitted, the package folder name is used.
A full example shape is 19|free/plg_system_rca_themer|keep_prior=20|changelog=1|label=RCA Themer. The product ID must match J2Commerce catalog products, including the product_id value in the product edit URL. The folder segment must start with free/ or pro/ under the attachment root you configured in J2Commerce.
The enabled parameter on the Settings tab controls whether the plugin participates in sync and related behavior. Leave it on for normal operation. Turning it off stops automated paths without deleting your map text.
The before_download_latest option, labeled Resolve latest on download in admin language, is a safety net that can reconcile to the newest ZIP at download time. Sync remains the source of truth for Add Files paths; treat this toggle as backup behavior, not an excuse to skip Sync after releases.
The Sync panel tab exposes Sync Now for Super Users. It scans each active map line, finds versioned ZIPs in the mapped folder, updates the lowest-id managed product file row to the latest ZIP, registers prior ZIPs up to keep_prior, and optionally attaches CHANGELOG.md. Read the panel messages when something fails; they usually point at naming, folder path, or a commented-out line.
You invent the cron key. Joomla, J2Commerce, and RCA do not issue it for you. Create a long random secret, paste it into Advanced, Cron key, then Save. Schedule server cron, wget, or curl to hit your site with option=com_ajax, plugin=rca_j2c_downfilessync, group=system, format=json, and cron_key equal to your secret. The Sync panel shows a reminder URL when a key is set. Leave Cron key empty if only Super Users will run Sync Now manually.
