Integrations

RCA J2C Direct Download stands alone for article-level free downloads. It does not require other RCA J2Commerce products. When you run a fuller RCA shop stack, these integrations explain how direct download behaves beside paid catalog, gating, and booking flows without stepping on them.

J2Commerce core checkout and cart shortcodes

J2Commerce owns cart, checkout, product detail layouts, and order delivery for paid and checkout-path downloadables. Use J2Commerce cart shortcodes when the product is not free or when you want every download recorded only through orders. Use {rcadownload} when the product is a free zero-dollar downloadable and you want a marketing article with one click. The plugin does not disable checkout elsewhere on the site.

RCA Storefront and product catalog pages

RCA Storefront displays curated J2Commerce product grids through the Product Catalog module. Storefront cards link to normal product pages and checkout paths. Direct download does not render inside Storefront module cards automatically. If you want a free lead magnet beside a Storefront grid, place a Joomla article with an {rcadownload} shortcode on the same menu item or link to a dedicated resource article from the catalog page.

RCA Conditional Products

RCA Conditional Products enforces qualifying and dependent purchase rules in cart and checkout. Direct download bypasses cart for eligible free products only. It does not evaluate Conditional Products rules on the download endpoint because free direct download SKUs are not dependents in a gated add-on flow. If a product must stay locked until another product is purchased, keep it paid or keep it on checkout path and use Conditional Products enforcement, not direct download.

RCA OSB to J2C Bridge and OS Services Booking

Bridge maps OS Services Booking holds to J2Commerce cart lines after a valid booking hold. Direct download does not create booking holds or cart lines. A free downloadable sample PDF on an article page does not interact with Bridge unless you manually link articles in your content strategy. Consult and booking products that require purchase first belong in Conditional Products and Bridge flows, not in rcadownload shortcodes.

RCA J2C Downloadable Files Sync

Downloadable Files Sync is the Pro tool that syncs versioned ZIPs from disk into J2Commerce product file rows. Direct Download consumes whatever files J2Commerce already exposes on the product. Many sites use Sync in admin to maintain files and Direct Download on articles to distribute free editions. The two products complement each other; neither replaces the other.

Mixed sites that sell and give away content

A common pattern is paid products and memberships through J2Commerce checkout, gated add-ons through RCA Conditional Products, catalog presentation through RCA Storefront, and free samples through Direct Download on resource articles. Keep SKUs and pages separated by intent so shoppers are not offered checkout and direct download for the same product on one landing page.
