Is File Desk free?

Retail GA from 1.1.0 forward is a Pro product. Earlier 1.0.x builds were distributed on the public feed during beta; production Pro feeds and pricing apply at GA.

Does it work on Joomla 6?

Yes. The manifest declares Joomla 4, 5, and 6 target platforms and PHP 8.1 minimum.

Can authors use it?

Only if you grant them core.manage on the component, which is usually a bad idea. Prefer Advanced Permissions with tight group folders if you must delegate, and never grant manage to public groups.

Does it include FTP or Google Drive?

Not in the supported connector configuration. Only local disk plus trash volumes are registered.

Where are uploads stored?

Under the configured Path relative to site root, enforced by realpath checks. Trash goes to tmp/trash.

Is elFinder GPL?

elFinder uses a 3-clause BSD license in upstream; RCA File Desk as a whole is GPL-2.0-or-later as a Joomla extension. See libs/LICENSE.md in the package for elFinder attribution.

What changed from JMP File Manager?

PSR-4 structure, MVC dispatcher, CSRF on connector, path jail under site root, removed legacy sidebar iframe, and J6-compatible session token handling. Feature parity targets practical admin file work, not every legacy JMP quirk.
