Feed Factory Pro assumes a capable Joomla host, outbound HTTP, and administrator discipline about backups and scheduling. This page states hard requirements and common misconceptions.
You need Joomla 4.x, 5.x, or 6.x with PHP 8.1 or newer on the site frontend and on CLI if cron uses PHP CLI. The server must reach remote feed URLs over HTTP or HTTPS from the server itself, not only from your desktop browser behind different DNS or firewall rules.
You need Super User access, or equivalent rights to install packages and enable plugins. Purchase pkg_rca_feedfactory from https://recreatinganew.com. Updates for 6.0.x arrive only through RCA’s private Pro feed; the free public feed will not deliver these builds.
Joomla scheduled tasks or server cron are strongly recommended for automatic fetch in production. Manual administrator fetch is valid for testing and recovery but a bad long-term habit when partners expect hourly syndication.
Magpie is not required because parsing is SimplePie only and Magpie was removed. RCA Helix Compat is optional unless you need Helix blog formats or Helix and core image sync on imported articles. Remote publishers do not ship with the suite; you still need rights to republish their content on your site.
Take a full site and database backup and prefer staging. Plan to re-verify every feed URL and Import2Content map after install because legacy Magpie hacks will not carry forward.
