Does this replace EasySocial?
No. You still need EasySocial from StackIdeas. This free Bugfix plugin patches and wraps painful spots so EasySocial runs cleaner on modern Joomla and PHP 8.
Is it free?
Yes. Public update feed at https://recreatinganew.com.
Which Joomla and PHP versions are supported?
Joomla 4.4 or newer, including Joomla 5 and Joomla 6, with PHP 8.1 or newer.
Which EasySocial versions are supported?
Built and checked against EasySocial 4.0.x, including 4.0.14 and 4.0.15 patterns. Install EasySocial first, then Compat.
Is ReCreatingAnew affiliated with StackIdeas?
No. This is an independent RCA compatibility and Bugfix plugin.
What does it change on disk?
On install or update it applies targeted PHP 8 and Joomla 6 fixes in a handful of EasySocial files. Originals save as .rca-orig next to patched files when patches apply.
What is article stream ownership?
EasySocial’s article app can create a new activity row on every article save. While Compat is enabled, it turns off EasySocial’s own stream_create and stream_update for that app through database parameters, creates at most one stream row per Joomla article, and updates that row on edit.
How does story photo paste work?
With Enable story photo paste set to Yes, members paste clipboard images in the story composer and EasySocial’s photos uploader picks them up. The old standalone Photo Paste plugin is superseded as of 1.2.4.
Do I need to reinstall Compat after every EasySocial update?
Yes, or at least update Compat again so install-time patches re-run. EasySocial updates often overwrite patched files.
What if StackIdeas ships full Joomla 6 support later?
Then Compat becomes optional. Disable, test, and uninstall only when you are satisfied without it.
