These guides walk common business patterns: membership unlocks, deposit before booking, display plus enforce with RCA Storefront, and multi-dependent rules. Each guide states which plugins must be enabled before you declare success.
Membership unlocks add-on products
Create a rule with the membership product as qualifying and add-on product IDs as dependents. Enable J2Commerce - RCA Conditional Products. Test that add-on alone fails at cart. Purchase or place membership in cart per your eligibility toggles, then confirm add-on succeeds. Optionally publish RCA Storefront Product Catalog with eligibility styling so add-ons look locked until membership is present.
Deposit or consult before booking
Set the deposit or consult J2Commerce product as qualifying. Enable System - RCA Conditional Products OSB so booking routes stay blocked until qualification passes. Test booking blocked without qualifier and open when qualified. Configure RCA OSB to J2C Bridge sid_map so the OS Services Booking consult service maps to the J2Commerce product that should enter cart after hold. Conditional Products gates. Bridge maps. Do not conflate the two when debugging wrong cart contents after booking.
Display plus enforce with RCA Storefront
Create and save the Conditional Products rule. Enable the J2Commerce plugin. Configure Storefront Product Catalog with rule source or eligibility mode showing locked dependents. Test account A without qualifier: locked look and cart refusal must agree. Test account B with qualifier satisfied: unlocked look and cart accept must agree. If A looks locked but cart accepts, fix Conditional Products plugin or rule membership, not Storefront CSS.
One qualifier unlocks several add-ons
Put one qualifying product and multiple dependent product IDs on the same rule. Save, re-open, confirm every dependent remained selected. Test each dependent once with and without qualifier. If dependents disappear after save, upgrade to current package, re-save, and retest before you blame shoppers for “finding a loophole.”
J2Commerce-only site without OS Services Booking
Install pkg_rca_condprod and enable J2Commerce - RCA Conditional Products only. You do not need Bridge or the OSB gate plugin. RCA Storefront remains optional for catalog layout.
Day-to-day rule maintenance
After every rule edit, save, re-open and verify product lists, clear Joomla cache, retest cart without and with qualifier. When debugging locked catalog that still checks out, fix Conditional Products enforcement first. When hold lands wrong product after booking, fix Bridge sid_map, not Conditional Products rule titles.
