These answers cover pkg_rca_feedfactory Pro behavior on Joomla 4 through 6. Version-specific CLI strings live in media/com_rca_feedfactory/docs/ on your site.
Is this the same as Joomla built-in feeds?
No. Joomla format=feed exports your articles as RSS or Atom. RCA FeedFactory imports external RSS or Atom into com_content articles. Those are opposite jobs.
What exactly am I installing?
Pro package pkg_rca_feedfactory installs com_rca_feedfactory, mod_rca_feedfactory, mod_rca_feedfactory_categories, plg_system_rca_feedfactory, plg_content_rca_feedfactory, plg_finder_rca_feedfactory, and plg_search_rca_feedfactory together.
How much does it cost?
One-time Pro purchase currently documented at $129 for RCA FeedFactory. Updates follow RCA Pro terms via private Pro feed at https://recreatinganew.com.
Do I need Magpie?
No. Parsing is SimplePie only and Magpie was removed from the RCA line.
Can I schedule imports?
Yes, on Pro (licensed or active Pro trial). Use server cron or Joomla scheduled tasks against refresh.php documented in media/com_rca_feedfactory/docs/ on your site, or use Scheduled refresh batches (6.0.21+) when you have many feeds. Manual administrator fetch remains for testing. Community edition after the trial is not meant for production cron scheduling—register Pro or fetch manually.
What are Scheduled refresh batches?
Pro administrators split large feed sets into batches under Components → RCA FeedFactory → Scheduled refresh. Each batch gets its own cron URL with batch=, interval, stagger minute, and optional feeds-per-run cap. That is the supported way to run automatic import on news-aggregator scale without one job refreshing every feed at once.
What is Import2Content?
Per-feed rules that map remote item fields into Joomla article fields: title, body, enclosures, categories, publish state, author, images, and related mappings depending on feed shape and your configuration.
How does “Read more” / introtext splitting work?
When Add “Read more” after is on, Feed Factory fills introtext with a teaser and fulltext with the rest. Only visible characters in plain text count toward the limit; HTML and inline <a> link text do not. After upgrading to 6.0.62 or newer, run Configuration → Re-split Read More until every batch reports 0 of N updated to fix legacy empty introtext or broken category teasers.
Why does Re-split say “0 updated” but I still had bad teasers before?
Each batch line means “0 articles needed a database change in this batch”—the rest already matched the limit. Keep clicking Re-split until all batches in the run show 0 of N updated, including the last batch. If teasers were wrong before 6.0.62, upgrade first, then re-split.
Why am I not seeing updates on the free feed?
RCA FeedFactory 6.0.x is Pro. Updates come from private Pro feed, not free public feed.
Do I need RCA Helix Compat?
No for basic import into com_content. Helix Compat is optional when you want Helix blog formats or Helix and core image sync on imported articles, with version gates described in Integrations.
Can RCA FeedFactory export my site as RSS?
No. Use Joomla core format=feed or menu feed links for export. RCA FeedFactory is import-only by design.
What happens if I uninstall?
Imported articles remain in com_content unless you delete them. Plugins and modules uninstall with the package. Remove cron or scheduled tasks that called fetch.
Where do docs live after install?
media/com_rca_feedfactory/docs/ on the site, plus README and CREDITS in the package.
