RCA FeedFactory troubleshooting starts with server-side reachability, Import2Content maps, plugin state, and schedule paths—not with blaming SimplePie because the remote feed is empty.

Re-split Read More (after upgrade)

Components → RCA FeedFactory → Configuration → Re-split Read More re-applies the visible-character intro/fulltext splitter on articles in Import2Content categories. Each batch line shows how many rows were updated versus how many already matched the configured limit. Run Re-split again until every batch reports 0 of N updated (for example 0 of 25 on each line, including the last batch). When every line shows zero updates, every article already honors the read-more character limit and no further database changes are needed. The tool runs in your browser tab in batches—it is not a background server job.

What counts toward the limit: visible characters in plain text only—HTML markup, script/style, image alt/title, and inline link text inside <a> tags do not count. Links stay whole; they are not broken across introtext and fulltext.

Category blog shows “Read more” before text, empty intro, or a gap mid-sentence

Symptoms on category or blog layouts: the article title opens to a blank top, “Read more” appears before body copy, or the teaser breaks awkwardly around an inline link. That usually means legacy imports left empty introtext with the story in fulltext, or an old split put a system-readmore marker ahead of the body.

Fix: upgrade to 6.0.62 or newer, then run Re-split Read More until all batches report 0 of N updated. Re-split only changes introtext/fulltext for Import2Content category articles; it does not undo manual edits you made in Content → Articles. If you save an article manually afterward, other plugins (for example RCA Automenu) may still run on that save—that is separate from Feed Factory read-more repair.

Instagram or Twitter embeds show only “View this post”

Imported articles often store the publisher’s blockquote.instagram-media (or similar) markup. Inline platform script tags are stripped during import for safety. On the public site, the System - RCA FeedFactory plugin loads Instagram, Twitter/X, or TikTok embed scripts when that markup is present so blockquotes can render as full embeds (subject to each platform’s availability and your site’s CSP). Ensure the system plugin is enabled. If embeds still fail, check browser devtools for blocked requests to instagram.com or platform.twitter.com—that is a host or CSP restriction, not Feed Factory refusing embeds.

No new articles after fetch

Confirm the feed URL resolves from the server, not only from your laptop. Confirm Import2Content publish rules and target category allow creation. Confirm permissions and author assignment. Confirm duplicate detection has not skipped the item because it was already imported. Confirm the remote feed actually published new items since last successful fetch. Confirm system and content plugins are enabled when your workflow depends on them.

Article body empty or thin

Inspect raw feed items for description or content fields and fix Import2Content field map. Some feeds ship title and link only; body will stay thin unless you accept that limitation or enrich content outside RCA FeedFactory.

Wrong category on imports

Fix feed or Import2Content category setting, save, and manual fetch. Move already-imported articles manually if editors already filed them under the wrong menu story.

Missing images or enclosures

Check enclosure or image map in Import2Content. Check remote URL blocking or hotlink protection. For Helix layouts use Helix Compat Media Bridge with RCA FeedFactory 6.0.17 or newer for image sync, and Helix Format with 6.0.18 or newer for format-specific media fields. Helix Format does not substitute for Media Bridge when the problem is paired featured and intro images.

Cron runs but imports nothing

Confirm scheduled task or CLI path points at the real fetch flow documented for your installed version. Run manual fetch from administrator and compare results. Check server logs for HTTP failures, timeouts, or PHP memory limits. Confirm cron user can create articles under configured author.

Smart Search or classic Search misses imports

Enable the Finder or Search plugin as needed, confirm articles are published and accessible to the search context, and re-index Smart Search after large imports.

Helix still shows standard posts after import

Confirm Helix Compat is installed with Helix Format On, Apply Helix blog format is on for that feed, and RCA FeedFactory version meets 6.0.18 for the Import2Content fieldset. Separate missing format from missing images using Integrations guidance.

Updater shows no 6.0.x builds

Expected if the site still points at free public feed. RCA FeedFactory 6.0.x is Pro; configure private Pro update channel from your purchase.

RSS Factory Pro upgrade failure

Restore backup, retry on staging, read package UPGRADE and CREDITS before next attempt, and email support with Joomla version, old RSS Factory Pro version, and exact failure text.
