Extension Refactor Request
Tell us which abandoned J3 extension you need for J4, J5, or J6 — and upload your copy of the package if you have it.
GPL only. RCA can only refactor and redistribute extensions released under a GPL or GPL-compatible license. This covers the majority of Joomla extensions. If the extension is proprietary (closed-source), RCA cannot legally refactor and republish it — even if you hold a valid license. Your license gives you the right to use it, not to authorize redistribution of modified code.
Not sure about the license? Submit anyway and select "I don't know" in the form. RCA will audit the package and respond. If it's confirmed proprietary, we'll offer to build a custom replacement from scratch in RCA's own codebase — same features, new code, yours to own outright.
Turnaround time. RCA uses an AI-assisted, human-reviewed refactoring process. Estimated delivery by complexity:
- Simple module or plugin — 2–3 weeks
- Medium component or multi-file plugin — 4–6 weeks
- Complex component with JS, CSS, or heavy DB logic — 6–10 weeks
- Package (multiple extensions) — 10–16 weeks
Timelines are estimates, not guarantees. High-demand extensions move faster. Priority is set by community volume — the more requests an extension receives, the sooner it gets scheduled.
You are the QA team. RCA ships code with no known critical breaking bugs — we will not ship broken code just to meet a deadline. What we don't do is personally bugtest every extension across every site configuration, PHP version, or hosting environment. RCA delivers the package; you install it, test it on your own site, and report back with any issues. That is your role, not ours. If you're willing to be a beta tester, say so in the form — it directly helps get your extension scheduled sooner. Bug-fix revisions based on your reports are included (2 rounds within 30 days of delivery).
